It's been four weeks and, with the generosity of the joint community, we are getting even closer to affirming a long-term safeguarding of this essential place. Our gratitude and appreciation for the support of all of those who have joined us continues to multiply. This donation portal has welcomed gifts large and small, totaling almost $27,000 now. Added to that are larger grants and gifts of almost $280,000, which puts us up to about 87% of our initial goal. We are working out the details needed for closing before the end of August, and leaving space for what may appear on its own. This work is in recognition of all who are here, seen and unseen, and an acknowledgement that there is much work to do toward restoring relationship here and everywhere. Ndalamizibna - we are grateful - that we are able to respond.
Kassimagawôganal - so many gifts... a week and a half has gone by since our last update, and a total of three weeks since we resolved to meet this challenge. We now have an accepted offer of $325,000 in hand to secure this timeless place; we gratefully recognize the deliberation made by the parcel's owner to choose this path of protection. We are now working to complete the balance of fundraising for the full purchase and closing costs, with folks continuing to recognize the opportunity to make a real difference. The crowdfunding platform is now up to an amazing $24,300; large grants from various private and organizational funders have committed $225,000. We are getting ever closer!
Spiwi kchi alamizwôgan - with great gratitude... We are humbled to share with you that we have pledges and donations for more than half of our goal now. The public fundraising effort here is picking up in tempo now, as word spreads, with just over $7200 received gratefully. Some large donors have committed to lift this community effort beyond the mid-point, so we were able to secure bridge funding to make an offer yesterday. We are happy to report that the offer was accepted last night, and we now are committed to raising the balance toward a successful closing. Please spread the word of this growing awareness to your friends and connections, and many thanks for adding your support and encouragement!
Here is an article in the Brattleboro Reformer about this journey.
Wliwni - thank you everyone! We are one week into this campaign, starting at the very beginning and growing our awareness. This is a compelling situation and those who learn of it are responding affirmatively. On the public front, we have gained about $3100 so far, and picking up in tempo. On the side, we have one large private grant promised and several more strong potentials. Beyond that, we have a couple promising conversations underway. We are grateful for the strong expressions of support and the rising momentum. We will endeavor to update every few days until we know this culturally-sacred place is protected for all who are here, seen and unseen.
