Vegan Food Program
The Podrska Foundation (www.podrskafoundation.org) is a grass-roots organisation run by Dash Meizler that advocates for human and non-human lives in Uganda. Since 2018 it has been delivering support to the most vulnerable families in the Kosovo and Kiwunya slums of Kampala in Uganda.
Our vegan feeding program provides nutritious plant based meals to at-risk members of the community in dire need of basic sustenance such as those with health issues or who live on the streets. Through our recent projects and fundraising campaigns we have provided support by giving over 2000 nutritious plant based meals to the most needy. As well as providing immediate hunger relief to food-insecure individuals our long term mission is to create opportunities for vulnerable people to provide food for themselves through our projects such as Project Grow (https://donorbox.org/project-grow-an-ethical-plant-based-environmental-initiative-to-empower-at-risk-ugandans ) and the Lady Program (https://donorbox.org/the-lady-program)
In line with our organisation's vision of self-empowerment and care and compassion for human and non-human animals providing support in this way gives us the opportunity to engage with and understand the needs of vulnerable groups so that we can help them with the underlying issues such as homelessness and lack of income that make it difficult for them to feed themselves. We also have the opportunity to speak with recipients about health and good nutrition from a perspective that promotes care for them, our environment and for the welfare of animals, enabling them to make informed personal choices as to whether or not to adopt a vegan lifestyle.
We are asking for your support with a regular or one-time donation. A weekly contribution of £29/$36 will provide plant-based food for a family of 6.
