Planning Commission Meeting Update

All—

Thank you to the 25 neighbors from Timbercrest and Far View Hills that came to the planning commission meeting. We were agenda item 41 of 46, which made for a long afternoon.

Comments were made by lawyers on both sides. The commission had some comments about the detention pond location and balance of house. But ultimately the planning commission voted to approve the concept plan citing the fact that the plan met the minimum city regulations. The approved concept plan does not connect out neighborhoods but adds 4 homes in a new cul-de-sac to Timbercrest at Yosemite and 17 homes on a cul-de-sac and a new road connection to Farland on the Far View Hills side. 

Our lawyer talked with neighbors after meeting about options. We have several from here. In the next few weeks, the Timbercrest Conservation Group will meet to discuss strategies and we will have another neighborhood meeting to present those. 

Again, we tried and thank you to all who gave and showed up at the meeting.

Planning Commission Meeting Oct. 3 1:30

The case will be heard at the October Planning Commission meeting. The meeting will be October 3, 2024, 1:30PM, in the Main Assembly Hall of the City-County Building. 400 Main Street, Suite 403

If you attend the Planning Commission meeting, we ask that you sit together and in solidarity with the Timbercrest folks. Each side of the case, “for” and “against”, will be given only 5 minutes. The lawyer representing Timbercrest Conservation Group will speak on behalf of the neighborhood.

Public comments (https://knoxplanning.org/cases/9-SC-24-C) are open until 3PM the day before the meeting. We encourage you to post your unique opinion.

Timbercrest Development Update Meeting, Sun 4:30, Timbercrest Pool

For all those interested regarding the development plans on Yosemite, the Neighborhood Association and pool board President, Daine Wright are meeting to provide an update.

What you can do:
• Make a public comment on Planning Commission case 9-SC-24-C. Be brief, have a clear point, and try not to repeat other comments.
• Make plans to appear in person on Oct. 3 for the planning commission's decision regarding the concept plan.
• Donate to our legal fund which will allow us to negotiate and have a pipeline to the developer on the neighborhood's behalf.
• Talk to your neighbors and spread awareness of the proposed plan.

Members of the Far View Hills Neighborhood are also welcome to attend. Bring a camp chair. Park at the pool gravel parking lot.
