Abbi's current condition...

Abbi has improved, yet still struggling with a cough. She's had 3 sets of bi-weekly x-rays, an echocardiogram, an endoscopic lung flush and full blood panels. She's completed 2 different prescriptions of antibiotics, continues to take sildenafil - 3x daily, and received 2 different types of de-wormer.  We know she is suffering from chronic lung hypertension secondary to something else and we haven't been able to pinpoint the cause of that. Blood results show inflammation, lung wash results came back negative, Echo showed a slight enlargement on one side of her heart but nothing that suggests congestive heart failure. We have consulted with an Alternative Medicine Vet who is treating her with adrenal supplement injections, vitamin B injections, daily cough suppressants, daily pet-longevity supplements and hydrocortisone tablets.  Her respiratory rate has improved tremendously - it is now normal - yet her breaths remain deep. She is still lethargic at times, but not as bad as she was.  Her coughing has decreased to about 5 x daily, as opposed to every 15 minutes. Starting today, we are starting her on a 3rd type of de-wormer, and the full treatment lasts 30 days.

All of these tests and treatments have obviously added up, yet have made a big difference in her condition, so from the bottom of my heart, and Abbi's slightly enlarged heart, we thank you all for your donations and your kind words.  I wish you all could meet ABBI in person because she's an absolute LOVE.

Sincerely,

Wendy Martin
