The vast majority of each year’s budget directly funds our writers’ payments. And much of our budget comes from individual readers like you, who continue to ensure our financial and journalistic independence.

Donors who contribute at least $60 in a year (either in automatic monthly donations of $5 or a one-time gift) become Friends of BSR. Friends of BSR receive free admission to BSR events, invitations to join staff and writer meetups, special discounts on partner events, and other perks throughout the year. Our Local Media Champions commit to a $20 monthly gift, and they enjoy deeper conversations with our staff, early access to editorials, and more.
