A Tribute to a Beloved Companion

It is with a very heavy heart that we share the news of our beloved companion Delta's passing. She was a member of our family, having been with us since 2016. Though her journey was marked by challenges, her impact on each of us is immeasurable. At an estimated 13 years old, Delta's time with us was a testament to the power of love, patience, and the unbreakable bonds we form with those who touch our lives.

Delta's unique spirit captured the hearts of all who knew her. While her interactions with other dogs were complex, her unwavering love for people was evident to anyone fortunate enough to cross her path. Her distinct tail wag, a true testament to her joy, spun in circles in moments of pure happiness, leaving an image etched in our hearts forever.

Losing a beloved animal is never easy. In their absence, we are reminded of the profound lesson to live in the moment and appreciate the simple joys of each day: The pure delight on Delta’s face of receiving a new squeaky toy. The happy dance of excitement when she realized she was about to go on a walk. Or the quiet moments she enjoyed, relaxing in the yard with our staff or volunteers.

Though Delta was never adopted, she found her forever family with us. A heartfelt thank you goes out to our kennel staff member, Michelle, who provided comfort in Delta's final moments, and to Miranda and Ellie for their thoughtfulness in gifting her a final beloved squeaky toy.

We will love and miss you, Delta.

To all our ongoing donors who have supported Delta: Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts. You are the reason Delta had SO many squeaky toys. You helped purchase her joint supplements and senior dog food. You gave Delta all the love she deserved.

Update on Delta!

We wanted to share another update on Delta, our longest-term resident of Living Free! 🐾

We're thrilled to share that Delta is still thriving at 12 years young! Despite her age, Delta continues to show little signs of greying and radiates an energy that rivals younger dogs. Her resilience and vibrant spirit inspire us every day. She finds joy in playing with toys and spending time with our dedicated staff and volunteers. Regular walks around the property and leisure time in the dog park keep her spirits high!

Delta's enduring presence at Living Free has made her a beloved member of our community. Thanks to the unwavering support of our incredible donors, she continues to enjoy a fulfilling life. We're grateful for your generosity, which has made a lasting impact on her journey.

Update on Delta!

Thank you for supporting our Sponsor a Living Free Dog campaign!

We want to share updates on the dogs that you have generously been supporting. Our first update is on Delta!

Delta has been with Living Free for over 6 years! She is currently our longest term resident and one of our oldest dogs on property.

While Delta is now an 11 year old senior dog, it is hard to tell. With barely any grey on her face, Delta looks and acts like a much younger dog.

On Saturday, July 23rd, Delta got a much needed bath - not only to get cleaned up, but also to cool down in this hot weather. While she wasn't thrilled about the bath, she was very well behaved while our staff attended to her.

Our kennel staff member, Steve, shared the following information on Delta: "She loves soft toys and will steal one anytime she is in the kitchen and bring them to her bedroom. She doesn't destroy them, just carries them around. She also will catch them or play fetch if someone throws the toy for her."

Thank you for sponsoring dogs like Delta. Your donation goes towards the love and care we give Delta. It also goes towards the food, vet checks, and toys that Delta gets throughout the year.
