Apologies for radio silence! Updates have been on Instagram and hadn't made the jump over here.
Less than 2 weeks left of the challenge now - which I'm sure Gill can attest to - is crazy to think about. On one hand I feel like I've been running for ages, but on the other it's like this just started.
Amazingly - at 5 weeks we have hit the target!! Endless thankyou's to everyone who made that possible. We can truthfully say that every penny will be put to good use and will go towards helping all those sweet dogs at the shelter, who need all the support they can get. The treatment kennels are having the finishing touches added, and the boys are getting started on the clinic room - using recycled materials where possible, as always.
At the start of the challenge, I was juggling 5km with a dairy farm, waitressing and seeing friends + family, so it was a bit of a mission and had to be crammed into a free period when I was tired and just wanted to sit down. Since getting to France and taking a step back from other things, I've realised that at least one point in the day, I'll feel keen to get out, so there's no need to push myself out the door straight after breakfast. It's been amazing to say to least - albeit slightly boiling hot (many days it's hitting 30°C).
The biggest change I've noticed throughout the fundraiser is my attitude to running. I can't say I've had an extreme fitness makeover and can now run 5km in my sleep, but a daily jog has now become something I'll often look forward to. Spending 30 mins with my favourite music queued, huffing and puffing down a track has become a main way of burning off anxious energy and feeling like I've accomplished something in a day. Gill and I chatted briefly about the possibility of stopping running since the target had been smashed, but both agreed that we'd like to push on and see this fully through!
Thank you again to everyone who's supported us so far and followed along on social media!
Here's to the last 11 days :)

Week 1 has been completed - that means I've officially smashed my original personal best of running 3 days in a row.
The focus of these first couple of weeks will be keeping up my motivation and building some stamina. Hopefully by the end I can focus on getting some quicker times.
A lovely finish to the week has been going to the Gower with my family, and means day 7 was spent running barefoot along the beach.
It's been tricky juggling my work experience on the dairy farm, with waitressing and running - but I've managed it
Thank you so much to everyone who's donated and shared - your support means the world.
Love, Scarlett
