River Branch Community School (formerly TCELS) Flood Recovery

On July 10, our community experienced a severe flooding event. Unfortunately our school building was flooded. The heart of our building is our cherished child care program, which serves 40 families, including infants, toddlers and preschoolers. There are also five apartments onsite providing critical rental housing in Duxbury.

The flood damaged two of the apartment units, including one inhabited by our preschool co-teacher. It also completely submerged our playground and damaged outdoor play structures. Our outdoor space will require significant remediation before it is safe to use.

Here are some photos of the flooding: https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipNYc4CH7_jujjPjod2AgrcmE7TMJhPyszB5sQIqBiuzovapgWHX_71GRdmLJf-iRQ?key=S2hQUXZoNDk2eDllSTh6N3ZZZnQ3eHBPODJIZ1p3

We do have flood insurance, but nothing outside of the building is covered. We are raising money to cover the cost of the deductible, as well as playground remediation and repair. We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization, and donations are tax deductible.

We appreciate your support of our school during this challenging time for the community and Vermont.

*We just changed our name! The Children's Early Learning Space is now River Branch Community School. We didn't know how apt it would be to rename ourselves after our proximity to the mighty Winooski.
