Over the last few months, a lot of work has been done to complete the renovation of the first house. If you remember in the first video update (found below), we were in the process of building out house number one because funding had already been made available for this project. The good news is that the renovation for this first house is now 99% complete and occupancy permits have already been received, and a family has already moved in.
If you remember also, from the first video, permits were already pulled for both houses, so all we need in order to move forward with the second house is the funding. Now there is good news there too. Over the last month, we have received close to $10,000 in support for this refugee housing project. With this money in hand, we can begin the work on this refugee transitional house.
There are several things that could be done immediately that would start to move the project forward and help prepare the house for the upcoming work. Hopefully, we will begin framing up the walls so that we can see the layout of the house. But, additionally, we need to put a new roof on the house so that we can seal it up for the rainy season. Demolition has been started and there is more left to be done. So we are beginning to put strategic focus on this house now as the funds have started to come in and the work on the first house is complete.
