Baby Austine Update #2

Austine has had his myelomeningocele repair surgery but his surgeon has found increased pressure build up in his head so he urgently needs a shunt placed to drain the fluid. Can you help us raise the funds needed for his surgeries and medical care? He has been through so much.

Baby Austine Update!

Austine has been unable to be cleared for surgery since February. He has developed pneumonia several times, needing to be hospitalized. He has been a very sick little boy. His doctors were very concerned and ordered a bronchoscopy (a procedure that lets doctors look at your lungs and air passages). His family could not afford this so Maya's Hope covered it for him.

They found Austine has Laryngomalacia (a congenital softening of the tissues of the larynx). This means he may need to stay in ICU for longer after surgery to ensure he is well monitored as he recovered.

We have increased our goal to cover the costs of Austine's hospital stays to treat his pneumonia, his bronchoscopy and his extended ICU stay. The plan is for him to have his myelomeningocele repair surgery in the next few weeks. So we need your help more than ever! Can you help little Austine?
