Children in the Philippines who live in extreme poverty lack access to quality healthcare. They are often denied assistance and are unable to afford necessities to improve their quality of life.
Austine is a beautiful 4-month-old baby boy from the Philippines. He has had a rough start to life. He was born with a myelomenigocele (a birth defect in which a developing baby's spinal cord fails to develop properly. It occurs when a developing baby's spinal cord fails to develop or close properly while in the womb). He also has a hydrocele and an umbilical hernia. In addition, he has already fought sepsis and anemia. He's a strong boy!
His most urgent need is to have his myelomeningocele repaired. He currently has a large "lump" on his back covered with a thin layer of skin. He needs surgery ASAP to prevent any further damage to his spine.
His parents are young and cannot afford the high cost of surgery. They reached out to us for help for their son..
Can you help Austine receive the surgery he desperately needs?
