Help Us Give Senior Dogs Their Second Chance at Happy!
Foster-based dog rescues throughout Ontario and across Canada are facing a crisis unlike anything we have seen before. Owner and shelter surrender requests have increased dramatically, placing an overwhelming number of dogs at risk.
As the only all-senior and/or palliative-care rescue in our area, Happy’s Place is seeing an unprecedented demand for our services. The dogs we welcome into our care often have nowhere else to go and, because of their age, medical needs, or overall condition, may be considered unadoptable by traditional shelter standards. Without rescue intervention, many are at significant risk of euthanasia.
We have worked hard to keep our doors open and continue accepting as many at-risk senior dogs as possible. By doing so, we are giving these dogs a second chance at finding Happy. We also provide families with compassion, choice, and peace of mind when they can no longer care for their beloved senior dog due to illness, health challenges, or other circumstances.
Founder and Director Angela Balcom is known across Canada for her dedication to senior dogs and is often one of the first calls made by partnering shelters when a senior dog enters their care.
Happy’s Place is an Ontario-registered not-for-profit organization that is 100% volunteer-run, 100% donation-funded, and receives no government funding. Every dog we rescue is Canadian, and every dollar raised goes directly toward the medical, foster, and overall care of the senior dogs who depend on us.
We are reaching out to our community for support. Whether you can donate $5, contribute to a fundraising initiative, share our events with your network, or connect us with a local business that would like to help, every bit of support makes a difference.
If you are a local business or community organization looking for a meaningful way to give back, we would love to work with you on a fundraising initiative, sponsorship, donation, or other creative opportunity.
At a time when the need has never been greater, your support can help us continue saying yes to the senior dogs who have nowhere else to turn.
Thank you for helping us give them the second chance they deserve — and the opportunity to find Happy.
