We are reaching out on behalf of Georgina, a courageous intersex refugee who has endured unimaginable suffering and needs urgent help to escape to a safer country. Your support is crucial in helping her rebuild her life in a place where she can access the medical care she needs and live free from fear.


Georgina’s Story

Georgina’s journey began in Egypt, where she was assigned male at birth. Her life took a tragic turn when her parents separated, and her father discovered her female reproductive organs. He subjected her to severe physical and sexual abuse and sold her into prostitution. Abandoned by her mother and ostracized by her family, Georgina faced daily torment. Even the police, when she sought help, further abused her.


At 18, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) stepped in and relocated her to Lebanon. There, she started to rebuild her life, finding a job, pursuing her education, and accessing gender-affirming healthcare. However, her newfound hope was shattered when she was brutally raped, contracted HIV, and lost her job. Now, she is living in extreme poverty and her health is rapidly deteriorating.


Why Georgina Needs Your Help

Lebanon is no longer safe for Georgina. She has received death threats and has been targeted for kidnapping multiple times. The country’s political and economic instability only heightens her fears. Although she has applied for resettlement, the process is slow, and she cannot afford to wait any longer due to her deteriorating health and lack of resources.


  • Food and Shelter: Georgina often goes without basic necessities like food and water due to her dire financial situation.
  • Medical Care: She needs advanced medical treatment for HIV, hepatitis, anemia, and liver issues, which are not available in Lebanon.
  • Safety: She must one day relocate to a country where she can live safely and access the medical care she desperately needs.
