Pro-Animal Colorado and Pro-Animal DC are fundraising to pass concurrent ballot initiatives to prohibit the force-feeding of ducks and geese and the sale of force-fed foie gras.
URGENT FUNDRISING ASK:
Polling data shows that only 1 in 4 voters know that foie gras is produced using force-feeding.
Now that we've gathered signatures from voters and qualified for the ballot in DC and Denver, we urgently need money for advertising to educate voters before the November 3rd election.
Political campaigns are powerful mobilization tools because they offer a clear, achievable goal with a distinct timeline, but to run effective campaigns, we must raise $100,000 (which will be doubled to $200,000) to do the following:
Reach 200,000 persuadable voters with literature about the initiatives
Hire a Public Relations firm to secure positive news coverage and run ads in local newspapers
Run radio ads and purchase phone-banking software to reach older voters
Run advertisements featuring testimonials of supportive veterinarians and chefs on Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook
Send mass texts to a targeted list of 200,000 persuadable voters
Purchase and distribute 1,000 yard signs
Mount posters on 1,500 additional street poles in DC

Persuading voters to support a ban on foie gras expands what the public considers “acceptable regulation” of industrial animal agriculture. When force-feeding birds becomes illegal, people naturally question other factory farming practices. If voters can agree that a tiny but brutal practice must go, they’re more likely to support bans on larger but less visible forms of cruelty.
These ballot initiatives will enable us to educate over one million voters about the conditions that birds face inside factory farms. With your help, we’ll build a foie gras-free future, one city at a time!
