The Opportunity:
Something extraordinary is happening across the nation. The animal rights movement is uniting to end one of the cruelest practices in food production.
Portland City Council voted to ban foie gras in June, and this November, Washington, DC and Denver are set to become the next U.S. cities to end force-fed cruelty.
On July 6th, 2026, Pro-Animal DC submitted 46 thousand signatures from DC voters to place a foie gras ban onto the November ballot.
Initiative 86 would to prohibit the force-feeding of ducks and geese and the sale of foie gras in Washington D.C by the end of 2026.
The Ask:
Polling data shows that only 1 in 4 voters know that foie gras is produced using force-feeding.
Now that we've gathered signatures from 5% of DC voters, we urgently need money for advertising to educate voters before the November 3rd election.
Drop lit on the doorstep of every voter
Run digital ads to educate people about the reality of force-feeding
Send mass texts to targeted lists of persuadable voters
Purchase and distribute thousands of yard signs
Improve our websites and communications materials
Put a poster on every street pole in DC
