New Futures Scholar, LitzyAs a young, independent immigrant woman living in America, my journey has not been easy, and I’ve had to stand up for myself through some of life’s hardest battles. I am grateful for the people who supported me when I needed it most, because without them—and without New Futures’ support—I don’t know where I would be today. My determination to grow, succeed, and change the course of my life has carried me far. I am now pursuing a nursing degree, a path that will allow me to serve my community and make a meaningful difference. To me, a nurse is someone who brings care, strength, and hope to others, and when I achieve that goal, I will look back proudly on how far I’ve come.
