Fundraiser for Replacement Walls for the Sanctuary’s Yurt
Overview
The Sanctuary yurt is one of the most important spaces at the land trust. It provides an elegant indoor space with a calming geometry. Guests often comment on the amazing energy they feel inside the yurt, and it’s true. So many events, so many gatherings, have taken place in this simple, circular structure.
Students of the Om-FLY Circus Yoga summer program, under the direction of Sanctuary Executive Director and Om-FLY Ring-leader Jennifer L. Taylor. The yurt has served the main classroom for most educational programming at the Sanctuary.

Rated for 15 years, the yurt is now over twenty years old. While the durable rubberized canvas roof is still intact, the polyester walls and window flaps are now very brittle and torn in many places and need to be replaced.
In 2021, we refinished the outside deck and inside floor of the yurt, some repairs to the deck itself, and fixed a leak in the ceiling. The wood structure of the yurt itself is in perfectly intact condition. The rubberized roof material is also in good shape. However, the canvas wall system, window screens and flaps and rigging, after many years of patching and repairing, are losing their integrity.Fortunately it is possible to purchase a new wall and window system from the same company which created the original building, Pacific Yurts based in Oregon (https://www.yurts.com) and install it ourselves. This relatively inexpensive investment would rejuvenate this sacred space, allowing her to serve the community for many years to come.
