Civic literacy is needed now more than ever.

How can you help? Please donate to GenerationNation to develop a new generation of civic leaders.

You'll help students to learn first-hand how their governments and communities work, explore and discuss important civic issues, know how to find and use good sources of civic information, and build social capital, knowledge and experience for effective civic leadership now and for the future.

Current events, education trends, and learning opportunity gaps make GenerationNation's mission - and your support - more important than ever.

About GenerationNation

Through a combination of K-12 classroom education and real-life experiences that help to narrow civic learning and opportunity gaps, GenerationNation programs include K-12 civic literacy curriculum, teacher support, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Youth Council, Youth Lead, the student mock election, and other initiatives that build civic literacy and leadership from an early age. GenerationNation serves 100,000 local students in 180 schools. Over 150 high school youth representing 35+ local high schools and 28 zip codes collaborate as civic leaders through the year.

When students become civic ready, they’re not just learning about voting or running for office. Young people learn how to analyze information and use it to make decisions. They are confident communicators who can listen and collaborate. They have diverse social capital networks. They’re civic leaders and problem-solvers who are invested in transforming their schools, neighborhoods, and cities for the better.

Charlotte-based GenerationNation is the only organization focused on K-12 civic leadership education in our community. GenerationNation is a winner of the American Civic Innovation Award and a national leader in K-12 civic education.
