Yeah, Art! is a Black-founded, Oakland-based nonprofit making arts education more equitable.
This back-to-school season, our org is aiming to raise $25,000 to expand our Music Production class to more schools. In this class, students learn to write, perform & produce their own original music. Our first student mixtape, "The Miseducation of Yeah, Art!," features 14 original songs by Oakland middle schoolers at Roosevelt Middle School and Melrose Leadership Academy.
- A suggested donation of $25 provides year-long music software licenses to (5) students.
- A donation of $125 provides (1) hour of music instruction for 30 students.

Yeah, Art! acknowledges that teachers — especially arts teachers — are drastically underpaid. For this reason, we pay our Teaching Artists the radically ethical wage of $125 per hour. This ensures our Teaching Artists are compensated for not only their time in the classroom, but their hours of preparation and travel to and from, as well as the years of training and experience that contribute to their artistic excellence. This wage enables Yeah, Art! to support our students with the best arts instruction AND financially empower the most talented artists right here in our community.
Yeah, Art! is based in Oakland — a rich, artistic community where creative legends blossom. Your donation could plant the seed for Oakland’s next creative legend to start growing towards their purpose. Your support is crucial to our mission and beyond appreciated.
With gratitude,
Ja Ronn Thompson, Mike Blankenship. Craig "C.j." Johnson and Madeline Lambie
