*News Release* Pine Creek Community Restoration Update

Attention – Pine Creek Wildfire Residents December 17, 2020 The Pine Creek Community Restoration Long Term Recovery Organization (LTRO) continues to work on your behalf as we help address both short-term as well as long-term relief needs. With the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) disaster determination still undecided, the LTRO wanted to get some relief aid to the affected households in the next few weeks.

Because we still lack the FEMA disaster declaration and the relief resources it offers, the LTRO believes we are in what we’re calling the “middle-term” in this recovery process. While much of our short-term recovery (immediate) needs was taken care of by the generosity (Thank You!) of groups like the Rosalia Lions Club, St. John Rural Relief, many faith-based organizations, and agency partners like the American Red Cross. As the LTRO, we are working hard right now on how we might address your immediate needs. We are devoted to hearing you, understanding your concerns, and learning from our disaster recovery partners how to best serve our unique Pine City and Malden communities and residents.

To this end, the LTRO is currently working on an immediate wildfire relief cash disbursement (Visa Debit Card) through our Whitman County United Way Agency partner. Please know that we are committed to creating a fair and equitable disbursement process for each affected household leaning on the advice and best practices of our professional partners, wildfire relief fund managers as well as the intentions of some of our generous donors. We anticipate this will take a few weeks to develop the application process and determine the amount you will receive. We are working on making sure we do this correctly and consistent with our donors’ wishes. More information will be posted to keep you updated on our progress.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. As always if you have an immediate need please contact the LTRO and we’ll do our best to help you. Wishing you all the best holiday season!
