SPRINGFIELD, VA — In 2024, we are proud to announce a new initiative to support and give back to local youth rugby. The West End Rugby Pass-Back Fund is a new, non-profit fund dedicated to directly supporting West End's legacy product boys & girls teams; funding much needed projects like training equipment, travel costs, tournament fees, and team uniforms. The fund will also lead the way in club expansion i.e. field prioritization & improvements at Grove Point Park (Franconia Park) as well as advocating for rugby across Northern VA & public school systems.
The Pass-Back Fund is led by president Reagan Douglas. Douglas, a 2013 West End alumni, now helps coach the high school boys and is acting director or rugby at The St. James sports complex.
"The success of West End Rugby can be attributed to our long-standing history of Alumni support, with players coming back to support the club and coach beyond their playing time. West End's many accolades are not limited to the past, but in the present; sustaining a culture of excellence and cultivating the next generation of West End Rugby".
To do this, we call upon our alumni and family to consider pledging a reoccurring monthly donation to The West End Rugby Pass-Back Fund.
"How much do you pay for a coffee? Or your Netflix? Our Facebook group has over 600 members. If everyone gave $10 a month back to West End, that is incredibly real and effective funding that we can use to fund projects, player needs, and sustain the club. As an alumni-driven fund, we will work directly with coaches & players to empower the club."
Monthly pledges will be rewarded with exclusive club offerings including gold supporter pin, retro jersey, and donor plaques. Rewards will be presented at West End's annual Alumni Celebration event in June.
