Mighty Writers has been a community anchor in Philadelphia, Camden, Kennett Square, and Atlantic City for 18 years. We are committed to supporting our youth, their families, and every single person whose life is positively impacted through our literacy programming and food distribution. We made it through COVID-19 together. We can make it through anything with your support.
Mighty Writers has made the difficult decision to temporarily furlough most of its staff and pause programming beginning September 1. This decision follows months of extensive efforts to avoid an interruption in services, including significant reductions in staffing and operating expenses, consolidation of operations, stronger financial controls, aggressive collection of outstanding receivables, pursuit of bridge and emergency financing, and continued applications for government, foundation, corporate, and philanthropic funding.
The community can help. We encourage supporters to advocate on our behalf by contacting their local City Council members, state representatives, state senators, and other elected officials. Ask them to support funding for Mighty Writers and community-based organizations providing critical educational and food-access services. Community advocacy matters, and elected officials need to hear directly from constituents about the importance of preserving these services.
Mighty Writers is here to stay! Give today so we can continue to provide year round, free literacy programming and feed our communities for many years to come.
