My name is Tom Lopez, I am running for re-election as Alderman for Ward 4 Nashua. As alderman I have worked hard to make Nashua one of the best cities to live in, for many years. I continue to organize community based efforts to tackle neighborhood issues, such as access to healthcare, quality housing options, and opportunities to thrive.
I have successfully fought large scale gentrification efforts while fighting to keep tax payer money focused on improving infrastructure, like sidewalks, streets and sewers in our neighborhoods. I have been a strong advocate for an environmentally responsible solution to the Mohawk Tannery property, and have supported efforts to improve energy efficiency in city buildings, renewable energy developement, through our hydro electric plants, and installation of solar arrays, as well as operation of CNG in city bus and DPW vehicles.
I have supported housing developments at Monahan Manor, the flats on high street, and the establishment of a housing trust fund and inclusionary zoning.
I chair the city's Human Affairs Committee ensuring that state and federal grant funding opportunities are managed in partnership with the city's many nonprofit and charitable organizations, working to expand citywide crisis intervention resources for mental health, substance abuse, domestic violence and housing crisis. I am a strong supporter of the city's Continuum of Care, organizing nonprofits in collaborative partnerships for homeless outreach, emergency sheltering, housing and crisis stabilization.
With your vote, I hope to complete developement of an eastern heritage trail pedestrian walkway connecting to the city's River Walk to allow for safer pedestrian travel through downtown, completing clean up of the Mohawk Tannery site, after 40 years of neglect, and continuing to focus on building a vibrant, inclusive community of neighborhoods in one of the best places to live in the country.
