Support needed!
The Bethune House and other charities have witnessed that there are domestic workers who were “preliminary positive” and were left in the cold the past 2-3 days.
Since hospitals and quarantine facilities are overwhelmed with COVID-19 patients, migrant domestic workers who have mild symptoms were told to isolate at home However, they have nowhere to stay as they were unfortunately rejected by their employers. These workers are left with no support on the street overnight and with some stranded inside the hospitals.
In 24 hours, we received more than 10 emergency calls from 18-19 February 2022 seeking support for shelter assistance and food.
The Bethune House Migrant Women’s Refuge is appealing for your support to help us respond to the urgent needs of these workers who are left without roof over their heads and food to sustain them.
We are calling for cash donations so we can provide: Food and water assistance, Rapid antigen test kits, Medical supplies, Blankets, sleeping bags, personal necessities and safe and secure accommodation.
It takes a community to shelter a migrant in crisis. Let us all be part of this community.
HKD $1000 can sponsor 1 worker for emergency support for ONE week.
