Beatrice Alexandra Golomb, M.D., Ph.D., is a Professor of Medicine at UC San Diego. Her
background includes physics (B.S.), biology (Ph.D.), medicine (M.D.), machine learning (Salk
Post Doc), and research methodology (Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar).
She has over 15 years of clinical experience as an internist.
Her research interests include drug/environment adverse effects, risk/benefits and health consequences. Her work on Gulf War Illness (a chronic illness from drug/chemical exposure) has advanced understanding of causal exposure-relations, mechanisms, objective markers and effective treatments.
Her sole-author RAND Report led to changes in U.S. Military policy, with other work leading to
changes in FDA labeling for important drug classes.
Her research has been featured many times in national and international media, including The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, The Economist, and numerous other venues.
Dr. Golomb has graciously offered her time to help us build a robust research team for this campaign.
