On the 6th of February 2023, a powerful earthquake measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale hit Antakya, Turkey. The quake caused widespread destruction across the city and its surrounding areas with over 14,000 people reported dead and thousands more injured or missing. It was one of the most devastating earthquakes to ever hit Turkey in recent years due to its intensity and location near densely populated cities like Antakya.
The Washington Charitable Foundation has launched a fund raising campaign alongside government aid programs aimed at assisting displaced families who have lost everything they owned; these initiatives are expected not only provide financial assistance but also psychological support through counseling services offered for anyone affected either physically or emotionally by what happened on 6 February 2023 .
All efforts put together helped reduce casualties significantly, however it will take months if not years before some parts of cities are restored into liveable conditions given amount of damage done during the disaster. Despite being difficult time, it is heartening to see how people have come together to help each other through such tragic event which serves reminder us all no matter what happens we can always rely on strength unity when times get tough.
THIS DEVASTATING EVENT HAS LEFT ITS MARK ON ALL WHO EXPERIENCED IT DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY BUT WHAT IS MOST IMPORTANT NOW IS THAT WE COME TOGETHER IN SOLIDARITY TOWARDS REBUILDING OUR LIVES AGAIN – PHYSICALLY, EMOTIONALLY AND SPIRITUALLY – SO THAT NO ONE WILL BE FORGOTTEN WHEN IT COMES TIME FOR RECOVERY EFFORTS FOLLOWING THIS TERRIBLE NATURAL DISASTER WHICH HAS TAKEN AWAY TOO MUCH ALREADY FROM US IN TURKEY .
Don’t forget, despite politics there’s only one humanity.
