A groysn, sheynem dank to all 96 of you who helped us to raise $20,000 in honor of In geveb's 10th anniversary. We are honored by your support and engagement in the community that makes up In geveb: readers, writers, editors, board members, and supporters. This fund has helped us to undertake necessary and important updates to our website (which is also 10 years old and going strong!), to create an expanded managing editor staff position this year, and to start our 10th year feeling confident in the future of our work. Thank you for supporting us.
There is one more opportunity to celebrate In geveb's 10th anniversary. For those attending the Association for Jewish Studies Conference in Washington, D.C. in December, you are invited to come raise a lekhayim with us on Saturday December 13th at 7pm. Learn more and RSVP here.
As part of our 10 year anniversary celebrations, we are collecting testimonials from the nearly 400 people who have written for In geveb over the years. We'll be sharing these on our social media and here over the coming weeks and months. If you've written for In geveb and would like to share a testimonial, please fill out this form!
Tayere khaverim, wow! It's only been a week since announcing our 10 year anniversary campaign and we are already halfway to our goal with over 50 people donating! Thanks to everyone who has already donated, and we love to read your comments.
How about a little trip down memory lane? Here's the very first blog post written by our founding co-editors Eitan Kensky and Saul Zaritt, "A Peacock's Dream: Introducing In geveb". It's amazing to see how much of that original vision continues to describe the diversity of our work, and yet has led to such a wealth of materials and topics that 10 years ago we could not have imagined, and certainly have not yet seen to the end.
Never emptied, the goblet,
Never summited, the mountain
Never fully constructed, the tower
Never seen to the end, the dream.
-Yehoash, In geveb (1919)
Tayere khaverim, thank you to everyone who made initial donations to our 10 year anniversary campaign. Thanks to generous donations from 25 donors totaling over $7,000 we felt confident to set our goal for the campaign at $20,000--an amount that will put us in a strong position for next year.
We announced the campaign at our event at YIVO two weeks ago and have now shared the news in a celebratory blog post by Jessica Kirzane and on our social media. Please help to spread the news by liking & sharing these posts. We look forward to sharing more reflections on In geveb's accomplishments over the past ten years in the coming weeks and months, and stay tuned for some fun thank yous and perks for donors that we'll be announcing soon...
