As Kelsey transitions away from her role on the School Board, many people have begun to ask: what's next? Given the events of the last few months, Kelsey's commitment to advocating for transgender youth and their families has only strengthened. Kelsey is working closely with other parents of LGBTQ children to kick off a non-profit called TransParent Alliance.
TransParent Alliance aims to:
Provide support and education to parents of transgender children, teaching them their rights as well as how to navigate and advocate for their children within the school system.
Advocate for gender inclusive policies and practices within communities.
Bring public awareness to the challenges affecting transgender families
Connect families to local resources, including support groups
Our first priorities as we get started as an organization is to create materials and resources for parents of transgender families as well as organize local events to build these important connections. We would also be interested in forming coalitions with other organizations as well as working with professionals who have skills that they would be able to offer (such as marketing and finance).
At this point, we are working through the process to obtain 501(c)(3) status. Currently these donations are not tax-deductible, but please stay in touch with us for updates.
