 Syria Health Recovery Initiative


As Syria enters its post-conflict phase in 2024, the healthcare system remains fractured into multiple parallel systems, each struggling with unique challenges of access, resources, and governance. In response, MedGlobal has launched the Syria Health Recovery Initiative 2025 (MSHRI 25). This initiative is a coordinated effort with the new Ministry of Health, United Nations agencies, and diaspora doctors and organizations to rebuild Syria’s medical infrastructure from the ground up.


Through MSHRI 25 and other ongoing programs, MedGlobal has reached a total of 311,880 free health services delivered to date in 2025, spanning primary, secondary, specialized, and recovery-based interventions.


1. Primary Health Care (PHC): 


MedGlobal supports six PHC centers in Idlib and Aleppo in partnership with UNICEF, WFP, UNFPA, and WHO. 

These centers integrate nutrition, outreach, and IYCF programs. 

As of August 2025: 
• 134,417 beneficiaries • Services include: 

◦ 30,986 Reproductive Health Services 

◦ 32,919 Pediatric Consultations 

◦ 71,108 Non-Communicable Disease Visits 

◦ 554 Deliveries; Dental & Dermatology (Focused on Leishmaniasis) 

• 58,488 Nutrition Services 

• 5,535 SAM/MAM Cases Treated with High Recovery Rates 

• 43,721 Health Education Sessions Delivered






2. Secondary Health Care 


Al-Rahma Hospital in Idlib, supported with SCHF and SEMA, o ers essential and emergency services. • Target: 83,529 People • Direct Beneficiaries: 55,271










3. Specialized Health Services (Dialysis) : 


MedGlobal supports Al-Rai Hospital in Aleppo with WHO, delivering: • 5,653 Dialysis Sessions

• Emergency dialysis at: ◦ Damascus Kidney Hospital 

◦ Ibn Rushd (Aleppo) ◦ 3 Charity Centers in Homs






4. Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS): 


Via the WHO mhGAP model, mental health services are embedded in PHC. 

• 559 Psychosocial/Psychiatric Sessions in PHC 

• 251 Sessions at the New Homs Center for Torture Survivors

 • 1 Autism Center in Idlib Supports Over 100 Children








5. Immunization Program: 

In Ras Al-Ain and Tell Abiad, MedGlobal supports EPI for a population of 300,000, including 9,000 infants.

• 6 EPI Centers Supported

• 500+ Immunizations Per Month Delivered by the Al Quniya Team

Deir Ezzor: 


• Surgical/ICU Rehabilitation and Equipment Support





Dialysis Campaign: 


• 140 Dialysis Machines Procured 

• 115 Dialysis Machines Delivered to 8 Governorates Including Aleppo, Damascus, Hama, Daraa, Latakia, Tartus, Homs and Deir Ezzor






(New): Rehabilitation and Equipping of Al-Zabadani  Hospital in Collaboration with Diaspora Doctors and the Local Community



7. Gifts-in-Kind Donations 


Medical shipments from Americares, Direct Relief, and CMMB distributed nationwide, aiding hundreds of thousands monthly.



8. Capacity Building:


MedGlobal has trained 1,000+ medical professionals through: 

• Specialty/residency training
