TLT-Tomorrows Leaders Today (TLT) was founded in 2019. In June of 2020, the TLT Leading Leaders Intern Program was established. Working with 28 colleges/universities, 95 community colleges, and numerous high schools, internship positions at TLT have been created. This experience is earning participants real life work experience and, in many cases, educational credit. Current positions include Accounting/Business Services, Campus Liaison, Grant Writing/Development, Graphic Design, Impact Management, Instructional Design/E-Learning, Marketing, Operations: Policies & Procedures, and Social Media, and Website Development. New for Fall 2022, Cyber Security, Data Research, GIS, Human Resources, Social Entrepreneur Project, and Video Production. These are all remote positions which makes this opportunity accessible to all. We continue to add additional positions.
Even with all the restrictions COVID brought us, we were able to create a TLT Learning Center with free and low cost online courses. Participants in over 14 zip codes initially utilized this service in the first six months of its release.
TLT's Unlocking the Future Program was created to provide basic real life soft-skills, higher education, and career readiness sessions, at no cost, to underserved youth, eighth-grade and older. Through group discussions, hands on exercises, speakers, and presentations about the civic, corporate, charitable, and educational opportunities right in their community we provide tools to become self-sufficient, community members. The classes each complete a community project.
New in 2022 we added our Small Business Entrepreneur 101. Young Adults 16-25 interested in learning how to start a small business or become certified as one of many high-demand, high-wage career fields including automotive, construction, hvac, plumbing, welding and other specialty shops like bakery, restaurant, florist and more.
TLT Youth & Adult Leadership Academy is a program where youth and their parent/guardian together experience emerging community and business leaders who encourage them to learn about, to question, to dream about, and to care for their community. Each session explores leadership dynamics, social service organizations, servant leadership, community growth and education, community health and safety, community government and community culture and leisure. Each member will work with their class building on and using their leadership skills to complete a class project that will benefit the community.
We are Platinum Seal Guidestar Transparency approved and could not have done this without our community partners and volunteers who gave 4080 hours in 2020.
Mission
Mission Statement TLT- Tomorrows Leaders Today, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to developing youth leaders through education, collaboration and mentorships with community & business leaders for the collective benefit of the students and their communities.
Needs
Our most critical need and hope, currently, is funding to provide each intern with a stipend and to raise additional funds so participants can receive our services at no cost. We continue to reach additional junior high school and older students that need our programs, throughout these counties: Collin, Dallas, Denton, Grayson, and Tarrant.
TLT Does need YOUR help. We are trying to bring the program into each community, especially where foster care centers, homeless shelters and those individuals who are impoverished and otherwise economically underserved reside.
As of May 2022, there were 1437 children reported to be in foster care by Texas DFPS, in Collin County 123, Denton County 289, Grayson County 92, and Tarrant County 933. Many others are homeless, aging out of adoption, and living below poverty. We have not stopped investing in these students, any way we can through online technology and limited in-person sessions during this unprecedented time. By helping TLT, you are investing in the young adults and the community.
We desire to work with Community Reinvestment programs and welcome community partnerships.
We are honored to be a part of the 2022 North Texas Giving Day. Our organization serves students with the help of Facilitators, mentors, and community partners. For other ways to help, please visit www.tltleaders.org/donations/other-ways-to-help/
This is where we need your help. Donating any amount to this worthwhile cause, you are giving a student an opportunity to be successful.
Help us change a student's life.
Thank you for your willingness to partner with us and help these young adults achieve self-sufficiency.
