UMASD Forward

Friends, there’s a reason why so many students and community members are rallying in support of my campaign. They‘ve heard my position on key initiatives and they’ve seen me roll up my sleeves to try to make them happen.  Here’s what they know about me and what I stand for:

Equity in Education

Creating an equitable experience for learners requires the elimination of impediments impacting student success. I am committed to constructive evaluation of district policies and procedures, hiring practices, and student & alumni satisfaction data as a catalyst for informing the changes that are necessary to create an equitable environment for all learners. 

Fiscal Health

Well-run and competitive schools are vital to maintaining strong property values. In recent years, the district has built two state-of-the-art elementary schools while limiting growth in millage rates. The new high school will open in 2022, with exceptional science and technology spaces, and enviable orchestra, arts, and grand performance spaces. These enhancements were necessary to afford the best opportunity for Upper Merion students to compete in a growing economy. I’ll continue the work of smart investments in our community while maintaining some of the lowest school tax rates in Montgomery County.  

Exceeding Educational Expectations

Upper Merion uniquely retains the feel of a mom and pop community while benefitting from the border presence of several major healthcare, science, and technology firms. I believe that student success requires the support of the community, and key partnerships with these entities would benefit our students and business community. I will seek to expand community partnerships that train students to develop exceptional future ready skills. These strategic arrangements will position our graduates to exceed educational expectations, opening the door to a brighter future for them and our community.
