The Vision
The Sparkle Project seeks to construct a collaborative coworking space for minority women in the film, fashion and corporate industy. The center will provide women with training, space, and equipment to execute their creative projects unhindered by judgement or discrimination. Minority women often experience a lack of career opportunities due to racial bias and are easily held under presumptions and overlooked for opportunities. The Sparkle Project plans to help reverse inequality by offering training and etiquette courses for women as well as the equipment needed to create their own projects in order to succeed. The site will include two film studios featuring design software and equipment; a social media studio for collaborative brand development and content curation; machinery for full fashion productions; creative co-working spaces, and a technology lab offering web development courses.
The campaign serves as a safe haven for women and a necessity to the organization's purpose of helping create more diversity in the workplace. We ask that our supporters continue to support our projects and events virtually as we continue to create awareness and help eliminate discrimination.
Phase I
The funds will be used to hire an engineer, land acquisition and maintain compliance with the City of Chicago ordinances. We have selected a site that is located in the Southside of Chicago. We anticipate providing job opportunities and resources to the local community as part of the city's mission of economic improvement.
Why is "The Sparkle Project" important?
Minority women are the highest unemployed and were impacted the most during the pandemic. According to the Illinois bureau, minority women have been paid less than every racial group in the US for decades. Over 88% of women have experienced some form of trauma in the workplace due to racial bias and undermining. It is still considered illegal in certain states to wear ethnic hair in its natural form. Minority women represent less than 1% of executive roles and are underrepresented in media.
Minority women have to work twice as hard to accomplish their goals due to prejudice and systematic oppression. Our primary focus is minority women but The Sparkle Nation Foundation, Inc. supports ALL women. We want to help women succeed by offering a space where women can be themselves and reach their highest potential. Help us spread light into the world by offering your support to accomplish our mission of ensuring minority women receive equal pay, opportunities, and the titles they deserve. Thank you for your support!
