The Turners brings a gritty view into the lives of two retired outlaws, Joe and Alberta Turner. In the sunset of their lives, they must saddle up one last time when their past catches up with their present. This journey takes the Turners down a path of repair and rekindling a love lost in a life they left behind 30 years ago.

WRITER/DIRECTOR

Frank Abney is a writer, director, and animator that has animated on blockbuster hits and award- winning films including Frozen and Big Hero 6, Kung Fu Panda 3 & 4, The Boss Baby, Coco, Incredibles 2, Toy Story 4, Soul, and Spiderman: Across The Spiderverse. Abney also served as executive producer on the 2020 Academy Award-winning short "Hair Love" for Sony Pictures Animation.

Most recently, Abney wrote and directed Netflix's "Canvas," which was honored with the first NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Animated Short, lent his talents to develop an original animated feature for Netflix, and wrote, directed, and animated the award winning short film, "Black Man, Black Man".

PRODUCER

Nicholas Maye is a filmmaker known for crafting compelling and culturally resonant narratives that blend entertainment with social impact. His work spans across live-action and animation, bringing authentic storytelling to diverse audiences such as the Academy Award Winning Film, Two Distant Strangers.

COMPOSER

Jermaine Stegall is an accomplished and dynamic composer and conductor whose work spans film, television, and live performance, earning him a reputation as a compelling voice in contemporary musical storytelling. With more than fifty projects to his name, Stegall has firmly established himself as a leading force in the world of musical underscore, crafting scores that elevate narrative, deepen emotion, and resonate with audiences across genres and generations. Stegall is perhaps best known for composing the score to COMING 2 AMERICA. His impressive portfolio also includes scoring PRAISE THIS for Universe Pictures, and many others.

His work has earned notable industry recognition, including honors at the BMI Film & Television Awards, a nomination for the MPSE Golden Reel Award for his score to the animated Netflix short film CANVAS, and a Black Reel Award nomination for Best Original Score for PRAISE THIS.

Making any kind of quality art requires craft, patience, and resources. Animation is not easy or cheap, so while we have a budget to take us to the finish line, we have larger goals to bring some real heat to THE TURNERS.

$80,000- We can round and even sharpen some corners rather than cutting them to bring higher quality while also being efficient to hit our completion date.

$100,000- We can increase the production value with our rendering process, bringing in simulation artists, more high level character animators, etc.

$150,000- We can lift the burden of our team wearing multiple hats and hire more talent across the board to bring the film to life with comparable rates as well.

$300,000- We have all we need to exceed expectations in quality from visuals to live musicians, pay everyone comparable rates, and make sure the film can be seen around the world.
