When you support peer support, you give a mom the gift of an arm around them, a voice saying “you are not alone” and the opportunity to find her village. Our focus in 2023-2024 is building more peer support in our communities, but we need your help.
The $8,000 we hope to raise by the end of 2023 will help us bring perinatal-specific peer support training to Wisconsin, expanding our State's perinatal peer support offerings and enabling more communities to start groups led by qualified, trained neighbors and friends who can guide them on their perinatal mental health journey. Additionally, these dollars will provide scholarships for perinatal people seeking peer-support opportunities.
MMHI-backed peer support groups are:
Community-based
Provider-led
No- or low-cost
Often kid-friendly
All of these factors ensure a mom’s comfort, safety and eliminate as many barriers as possible to quality care. Peer support is an evidence-based method of helping people survive mental health conditions by improving engagement with treatment plans and whole-person health.
Thank you for helping Moms Mental Health Initiative bring more quality peer support offerings to our communities.
