Dear Supporters,

Since 2019, The Noisy Librarian, a 501c3 organization, has provided students from disadvantaged backgrounds one-on-one guidance throughout the college planning process.  Many students, especially low-income and those who are first in their families to attend college, face multiple barriers to college enrollment. We currently have six high school seniors who have been accepted into colleges and universities for the 2022-2023 school year.

Our mission serves as a critical resource to high school students from underserved communities by providing academic support and interventions to prepare for post-secondary educational opportunities.  These students and their families are often not familiar with the requirements of college admissions and do not have the financial resources to seek out additional support. We work alongside students to help them create a plan beyond high school, whether a four-year college or university, community college, or a certificate program.

According to the U.S. Department of Education, poverty and inadequate education make it difficult to climb the economic ladder. Statistics from the Department of Education reveal that college graduates with a bachelor's degree typically earn 66% more than those with only a high school diploma and are far less likely to face unemployment.

At the Noisy Librarian, we assist students in Forest Park, Georgia, and surrounding counties with overcoming socioeconomic barriers that prevent them from achieving their educational goals. Households in Forest Park have a median annual income of $36,792, much less than the U.S. median annual income of $65,712. In 2019, these residents had an income of 26.2% below the poverty level. In contrast, this is 49.3% greater than the poverty level of 13.3% of residents across Georgia. This community is 45.7% Black, 27.1% Hispanic, and 17.3% White. Forest Park's 2019 high school graduation rate was 72%, but only 36.6% of these graduates pursued college or vocational programs.

At the Noisy Librarian, we believe our responsibility is to ensure the next generation of leaders are equipped with the academic resources and social-emotional support to achieve their career goals. We continue to influence students within the Clayton County, Georgia community, and surrounding areas, but now we are asking for your support.
