The GiveJoy Foundation is a 501(c)(3) seeking to spread joy by providing students and families with resources related to physical health (body), mental wellness (mind), and character development (heart/soul). We believe this empowers and guides youth to strong, healthy futures.
Through exploring our success, we have worked to narrow our focus and promote three major initiatives.
We believe these programs are scalable and speak to our desire to be facilitators of joy. Our programs are designed to attract partners who seek to move beyond funding and desire to create deep connections to the community.
Below are our three focus areas we will be using to grow our footprint in the central Texas region. To facilitate these initiatives we are seeking to raise $130,000.
JOY BOXES
School Snack Program offers a variety of nutritional snacks and food options for students for use during and after school. It reduces the need for teachers to provide food for students. Our 2021 goal is to provide 3,000 snack boxes for Sam Rayburn Intermediate School (Bryan, TX) and Del Valle Elementary School (Del Valle).
GROW AND GIVE BACK HOLIDAY DRIVE
Our annual holiday drive provides a full holiday experience for families in need. The program adopts students and their siblings across Bryan Independent School District and Del Valle School District and provides $100 worth of gifts and pre-prepared holiday meals to the students and their families. Our largest campaign covered 1,400 children in 2018. Our goal for 2021 is to sponsor 300 families.
JOY GRANTS
Annual grants are awarded to schools to provide fitness and nutrition education-based programs such as FitFest, 4th Grade Relays, and campus-based run clubs.
#MOVEMENTMATTERS
This program promotes the movement of students and families through two key initiatives.
Run Clubs. Run clubs are designed to motivate students to accumulate miles each week and reward them upon completing 5 miles intervals. Successful students can also receive entry into external community races.
PE Bags. Sponsored duffle bags containing activity equipment like frisbees, jump ropes, and balls. The bags are awarded to a different student each weekend. Students create fun activities and record them in a shared journal.
