Goal

A 10-mile coastal walk to raise £2,000 for

The Song School Fund.

Sponsored by c2c RailOn Saturday 8 August we’ll be embarking on a 10 mile walk to raise money for The Song School Fund ahead of the new academic year - starting in September. Our goal is to raise £2,000 to fund 10 session places on our regular timetable, for a full year, starting in our September intake.

The route: We’ll start at Leigh-on-Sea station and follow the coast to East Beach, with a few planned pit stops (plus a walk up and down the pier) to bring us to 10 miles.

Start time: 8am

About the fund

The Song School’s mission is to level access to music for all children and young people regardless of circumstances, so all can experience the benefits associated with learning and playing music such as enhanced confidence, self-esteem, improved mental wellbeing and academic aspirations. The Song School Fund provides the following:

Free and subsidised places so children and young people from low-income households can attend The Song School. The fund also helps to keep class costs affordable for everyone else.

Spaces and sessions that support neurodivergent children and young people to feel safe, supported and thrive. In a world built for the neurotypical, we have re-imagined the approach to music education so those who think differently can thrive.

The fund also supports instrument and studio upkeep, repairs and purchase - benefitting our whole community. Right now, we’re building a sensory garden and we’re exploring upgrades to three of our studios, to improve the sound during rehearsals.
