Your Donation: A Lifeline for Those Like Haruma Miura
Hello everyone! I am Pratyus Gurung, a student working for a cause in TELL Japan, an international non-profit organization established in 1973, which has been working to help people cope with their mental problems. Every year, we hear the news of people taking their own lives. According to WHO's report, in 2019 alone about 703,000 people took their lives due to suicide and mental health problems. In 2022, over 21,881 deaths were suicidal in Japan. Suicide has become a major cause of deaths in modern days, with reasons such as heavy workloads, deadlines, financial issues, relationship problems and academic stress.
Let me share you something that has pierced my heart since the day I heard it. This is the story of Haruma Miura:
On July 18, 2020, Miura was found unresponsive in his closet at his home. He was discovered by his manager, who had been ready to pick him up for work and then checked up on him after he did not respond to the messages, phone calls, or doorbell sounds. He was rushed to the hospital where he was no more here with us. Police discovered that Miura expressed anxiety, mentally exhausted and thoughts about dying.
There are hundreds of people who suffer inside like Haruma did. Amidst this growing crisis, your support can be a beacon of hope. Even a small contribution can make a substantial difference in the fight against suicide. By supporting mental health initiatives, providing resources and donations for counseling and crisis intervention, or even just offering a listening ear to those in need, you have the power to save lives. Your compassion and assistance can collectively help hundreds of individuals find the strength to overcome their darkest moments and embrace a brighter future. Let us come together to combat the rising tide of despair and offer a lifeline to those who need it most in Japan.
