HELP SUSTAIN SNAP STRETCH AT THE PUBLIC MARKET

From now until Harvest Festival all donations to the SNAP-stretch campaign will be DOUBLED, thanks to a generous donor. A $10 donation becomes $20! $50 becomes $100! Till we reach our goal!
The SNAP Stretch program at Grow Ohio Valley’s Public Market directly benefits both SNAP shoppers and local farmers by enabling shoppers to buy local food with SNAP cards AND providing a 50% discount on local food products. We need your help to make sure there is enough funding to guarantee coverage for all SNAP customers.
How SNAP STRETCH works:
1. A family uses their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) card to purchase $20 worth of local foods - fresh vegetables, fruits, and more.
2. The sale is discounted 50% so the family only pays $10 (That’s the STRETCH!).
3. This fund (YOUR DONATION) covers the stretch (the $10 discount on the sale) so that the farmer gets paid the full price for their product.

The Public Market:
Grow Ohio Valley’s Public Market is a year round farmers market and local food grocery store that opened in an abandoned bus station downtown in 2019, transforming Downtown Wheeling’s access to fresh, local vegetables, meat, eggs, and more.
How you can help:
We need your help to keep SNAP Stretch going at the Public Market. SNAP Stretch has been even more successful than we could have expected, having been used almost 100,000 times since the opening of the market in fall 2019, accounting for more than 30% of Public Market sales, and supporting over 100 local farmers and artisans. The program is partially funded by the WV Food and Farm Coalition, but with such high user demand we need help to make up the difference!
