香港電影節（英國）於2021年成立，2022年舉辦首屆，是英國首個及唯一由香港人舉辦、以香港為焦點的電影節，是英國首個及唯一由香港人舉辦、以香港為焦點的電影節，致力在港人離散的時代，承傳香港電影文化。
我們致力發掘形式大膽、聲音獨特的香港及亞洲電影。當新晉導演敢於記錄時代變遷、回應香港的歷史與社會議題，無論作品能否在原生地公映，電影節都願意為他們提供放映及交流的平台。在銀幕以外，我們亦透過藝術家影像、跨領域藝術及對談，讓來自香港以至更廣闊亞洲的當代視野，在英國找到自由表達的空間。
我們也希望電影節能為移英港人帶來一點慰藉。相隔千里觀看同一部作品所喚起的共鳴，能夠接通離散與留下的港人。在英國與不同族群一同現場觀影，也能連結港人、東亞、東南亞及其他離散社群與英國本地居民，在新來者與本地人之間，以至不同移民社群之間，建立更多理解。

自2022年首屆至今，電影節以及年中舉辦的特別放映，遍及英國7大城市逾30個放映場地，超過200場放映及活動，大部分皆滿座，共接觸了逾27,000人次的觀眾。
電影節至今仍由一個精簡的團隊營運，大家所得的報酬與付出並不相稱，而且涉及大量義務工作。支撐我們走下去的，很大程度上是對香港和電影的信念。上屆電影節我們約7成支出用於支付電影版權及節目製作費用。除了向公營機構申請項目資助、從票房得到收入，電影節能夠順利誕生，端賴認同我們願景的有心人捐款支持。
一般而言，不少地方政府都會資助海外的社群推廣本土文化。然而，香港電影節（英國）選片一向重視時代意義，呈現來自香港真誠、勇敢而多元的聲音，讓電影回歸自由表達的藝術形式，因此從未獲得香港政府或公營機構任何形式的支持。來自公眾的捐助，對我們延續使命尤為重要。

我可以選擇捐款的模式嗎？
你可以選擇每月捐款或單次捐款，在捐款版面選擇「One-off」或「monthly」便可。
我選擇了月捐，遲些可以改變主意嗎？
你可以電郵至 info@hkff.uk 聯絡我們，我們的職員會協助取消月捐。請注意，取消月捐需時，未必能即時生效，此前您所訂定的月捐金額仍會自動從信用咭賬戶 / 扣賬咭連結的銀行賬戶中扣除，我們將於扣數後的30日內將有關款額退回。
我可以透過甚麼方式捐款？
我們接受透過Visa、MasterCard、American Express等扣賬咭 / 信用咭捐款，亦接受PayPal。身在英國可使用上述任何一種捐款方式，但如身處香港（即以香港IP上網）則只能以PayPal捐款。
捐款平台及支付平台需要收取手續費嗎？
用信用咭或PayPal捐款，你所選擇的捐款金額已包括捐款平台及支付平台收取的所有手續費，支付平台在扣除手續費後才會將捐款交予香港電影節（英國）。扣賬咭 / 信用咭捐款的手續費為捐款額的1.5%，加上每次交易15p；PayPal捐款的手續費為捐款額的2.9%，加上每次交易30p或HK$2.35。
第三方會知道我捐款給香港電影節嗎？
如透過扣賬咭 / 信用咭捐款，我們會採用Stripe平台收取捐款，銀行交易記錄僅會顯示轉帳至「Stripe」戶口，而不會顯示香港電影節（英國）為收款賬戶。但透過PayPal捐款，PayPal紀錄將顯示為HKFFUK。
捐款後你們會發出收據嗎？
捐款後系統會將電子收據發送至你填寫的電郵地址。另外歡迎你願意以電郵接收日後聯絡，我們會透過電郵分享電影節的最新活動及詳情。

♦ A stage for distinctive voices in a time of diaspora ♦
Founded in 2021, Hong Kong Film Festival UK held its first edition in 2022. It is the first and only film festival in the UK organised by Hong Kongers with a focus on Hong Kong, and it is dedicated to carrying Hong Kong film culture forward at a time when Hong Kong people are dispersed across the world.
We seek out Hong Kong and Asian cinema that is bold in form and distinctive in voice. When emerging directors dare to document a changing era and respond to Hong Kong’s history and social questions, the festival offers them a platform for screenings and exchange, whether or not their work can be shown where it was made. Beyond the screen, we work with artists’ moving image, interdisciplinary art and conversation, so that contemporary perspectives from Hong Kong and the wider Asian region can find space for free expression in the UK.
We also hope the festival can bring some comfort to Hong Kongers who have settled in the UK. Watching the same film thousands of miles apart can create a shared response that connects those who have left with those who stayed. Watching films together in the UK with people from different backgrounds also brings Hong Kongers into contact with East and Southeast Asian and other diasporic communities, as well as local UK residents, building understanding between newcomers and locals, and among migrant communities themselves.
♦ Four editions in, help us keep going ♦
Since our first edition in 2022, the festival and its special screenings throughout the year have reached more than 30 venues across 7 UK cities, with over 200 screenings and events, while many of them sold out, and more than 27,000 attendees.
The festival is still run by a lean team whose pay does not match the work they put in, and much of that work is voluntary. What keeps us going is, to a large extent, our belief in the festival. At our last edition, around 70% of our spending went on film rights and programme production. Alongside project funding from public bodies and income from ticket sales, the festival has only been possible thanks to donations from people who share our vision. Many governments support their communities overseas in promoting their culture.
Hong Kong Film Festival UK, however, has always programmed films that speak to their times, presenting honest, courageous and diverse voices from Hong Kong and treating cinema as an art form of free expression. For this reason, we have never received any form of support from the Hong Kong government or Hong Kong public bodies, which makes donations from the public all the more important to our mission.

Most film festivals find it difficult to break even. This is largely because cinemas take most of the box office share, while the festival pays the full screening fees for each film, covers the production costs of post-screening events and carries most of the promotional costs.

Our 2026 main festival was a great success, and the programme was very warmly received. We are now raising funding to support the second and third seasons of the 2026–27 edition and the festival’s long-term development. This will allow us to explore more in-depth screenings and other kinds of activity, and to build a sustainable model for the festival’s future. A team of a few people cannot reach this goal alone, and the festival can only continue with the support of people who believe in it. If you would also like the UK to keep a film festival run by and for Hong Kong people, one that keeps Hong Kong visible in a time of diaspora, we hope you will give generously and help us carry Hong Kong stories further.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I choose the mode of donation?
You can choose to donate on a monthly or a one-off basis by selecting the “Monthly” or “One-time” button on the donation page. .
I have chosen to make a monthly donation. Can I change my mind later?
You can email us at info@hkff.uk and our staff will process the cancellation request. Please note that it takes time for the cancellation to be effective. The amount of monthly donation will still be deducted from the account associated with your debit / credit card used for donating until the cancellation takes effect. We will refund the amount to your account within 30 days of the transaction.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept debit / credit cards like Visa, MasterCard and American Express. We also welcome donations by PayPal. You are welcome to donate via any of the above means if you are in the UK. Donations made from Hong Kong (according to IP address) can only be made via PayPal.
Do the donation platform and payment gateways have service charges?
When making donations, the amount you choose has already included all service charges. We receive your donation after service charges are deducted. If you are using debit / credit cards, the service charge is 1.5% of your donation plus 15p for each transaction; if you are donating through PayPal, the service charge is 2.9% of your donation, plus 30p or HK$2.35 per transaction.
Will third parties know that I have donated to the Hong Kong Film Festival (UK)?
We use the Stripe platform to receive donations. If you are making donations using debit / credit cards, bank transactions will only show the "Stripe" account as recipient, and Hong Kong Film Festival (UK) will not appear on your transaction records. If you are donating through PayPal, the transaction records will show “HKFFUK”.
Will receipts be issued for my donations?
The donation platform will send an electronic receipt to the email address you provide. We are more than happy if you are willing to use your email address to receive further information on our future programmes.
What will you do with my donation?
Funds raised will be used for organising the festival proper and other film-related programmes (e.g. seasonal screening series, community screenings, film talks, production workshops, short film competitions, etc.), and we will announce the details via our social media or you may opt to receive such information via email.
