Problem
For most of American history, democracy felt like the ground beneath our feet: permanent, solid, and guaranteed. Today, it doesn’t.
We are witnessing an unprecedented moment. The pressure is coming from the top down. Governments are initiating moves that edge us toward authoritarianism, testing the guardrails of the rule of law and the rights we take for granted.
In this struggle, corporations are no longer bystanders. They are the massive, weight-bearing pillars of our society. When the government oversteps, we look to these powerful entities to be the firewall.
The problem is that right now, that firewall is full of holes:

We aren’t starting from scratch. We’ve already built the early version of Spend4Democracy.
We are currently tracking the moments where corporate interests and government malfeasance collide. All events are carefully curated and validated.
These are real actions happening currently, such as:
- The companies providing the literal infrastructure for immigration detention and enforcement. When a brand you use is the one powering a detention center despite continuous due process violations by ICE, you deserve to know.

- When a government oversteps and pressures a business to hand over user data or restrict speech, we document exactly who complied and who fought for their customers.

- Direct alternatives: We won’t just tell you who is failing; we will provide immediate, actionable recommendations for where to spend your money instead.
- A chat platform: to have discussions with like-minded individuals.

- Strengthen our infrastructure: We will reduce our reliance on large technology providers by improving our underlying systems, ensuring the platform is more resilient, independent, and able to scale as this grows.
