Access to the ballot isn’t just about presidential elections. Local and state officials make decisions every day that shape our lives—from schools to healthcare to housing. Every vote matters, and every barrier to voting matters too.
Over 26 million Americans don’t have a government-issued ID. Without one, they lose access not only to the ballot box, but also to housing, healthcare, jobs, and banking. For many, the cost of an ID—about $40—means choosing between documents and dinner.
Since 2018, we’ve obtained 15,000 IDs, registering 92% of those individuals to vote. Along the way, we listened—to families, communities, and partner organizations—and expanded our work to tackle other barriers to full civic participation.

Vote by Mail in Jail: In 2024, we worked in 80 facilities across 13 states, achieving a 90% turnout among participants.
