My name is Gabby and I am currently completing my South Australian Certificate of Education “SACE”, as part of my studies I am working towards completing my Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award. The award encourages young people to challenge themselves through community service, skill development, physical recreation, and adventurous experiences.

To successfully complete the Gold Award, I am required to undertake volunteer work and participate in a residential project. I am fortunate to have the opportunity to participate in a 3 week internship with Heartprint, This will provide me with valuable experience, personal growth, and the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the Cambodian community.

My goal is to raise funds to cover the costs of the internship and if possible, funds for extra support to families and programs while I am there, for example, I would like to be able to support a student or students to own a bike and give them the opportunity to get to and from school.

I chose Heartprint because in 2023 my Aunty suddenly passed away and Sally her old workmate started a fundraiser to build a house. With the support of my Nan and Pa and Sally and all her friends' efforts they raised enough money to build 3 houses in her memory. Now Sally who is passionate about supporting families with disabilities is working on the project to support Heartprints Disability Program. My Aunty worked in the disability industry for over 15 years and was a wonderful advocate for people with disabilities. I am doing this for not only my own growth and development but also honour my Aunty.

If you can support my journey, I would be extremely thankful.
