Dear Donors,
You may have already heard the great news of last week - in a significant legal victory, Palestinian student Dana Abu Qamar has won her appeal at the First-tier Tribunal (Immigration and Asylum Chamber) against the Home Office’s attempt to cancel her student visa in December 2023! This decision comes after court documents showed that then-Immigration Minister Robert Jenrick personally intervened in the matter, enquiring with the Home Office whether it would be “possible to revoke her student visa”.
The tribunal said the Home Office decision was a “disproportionate interference with her protected right to free speech” under the European convention on human rights.
Dana Abu Qamar’s landmark win reaffirms support for Palestinians’ legal right to resist is protected under free speech! Amid a government crackdown, this is a MASSIVE win for the Palestine solidarity movement and a blow to the British government’s shameless attempts to criminalise protestors and bully them into silence.
A HUGE thank you to each and every one of you for your donations and incredible solidarity. Your contributions have driven so much impact not only to Dana but to the wider Palestinian Solidarity Movement.
