Since the 90s, the Oceti Sakowin Writers Society, formerly known as the Oak Lake Writers' Society, realized that we must work together to support each other's writing. Whether anthologies or other works, our land-based cultural writing directly demolishes boarding school goals of 'kill the Indian, save the man.' The Society and our collaborations stem from the summer retreats that started in the 90s and that continue today. Your generous support makes our retreats and support of tribal writers a reality!
