The Lavender Project is a grassroots, queer-led initiative dedicated to bringing LGBTQ+ literature, support, and community resources to Scott County, Tennessee, and surrounding rural areas where access to inclusive spaces is limited.
Our immediate goal is to launch a pop-up bookstand featuring carefully curated, child-appropriate books by queer authors. This stand will travel to local events, schools, and community gatherings — offering free or donation-based books and resources to foster acceptance, education, and connection.
With your help, we can:
- Purchase and set up the pop-up stand (canopy, tables, displays)
- Print outreach materials, bookmarks, and resource guides
- Collect and distribute queer-themed books and stories appropriate for youth and adults
- Begin the formal nonprofit registration process to build a permanent safe space in the future
This campaign seeks to raise $1,800 to cover these startup costs and start building a sustainable foundation for ongoing community outreach and education.
Every donation, no matter the size, will directly support making this project a reality — providing a welcoming place where LGBTQ+ voices are uplifted, and everyone is free to be themselves.
Join us in creating a safer, more inclusive community. Your support helps turn stories into sanctuary.
