April is recognized as Child Abuse Prevention and Sexual Assault Awareness Month, with the theme "Together We Act, United We Change." This campaign emphasizes the importance of collaboration in preventing sexual violence and creating safe, supportive communities. Education is key to empowering individuals and shifting perceptions surrounding sexual abuse, assault, and harassment.

Sexual violence, which includes rape, sexual harassment, and unwanted contact, affects everyone. Statistics indicate that over 53% of women and 29% of men have experienced contact sexual violence, with disproportionately high rates among specific groups, such as American Indian and Alaska Native women.

Understanding protective factors, such as nurturing relationships and social connections, can help reduce the risk of child abuse. Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), including abuse and domestic violence, can significantly impact a child’s development.

To support survivors and raise awareness, we are hosting a "Stop the Abuse" self-defense seminar and fundraiser on April 8th, along with a series of classes on April 26th. The events include a Women’s Only Self-Defense Seminar at 10 AM and a Family Protection Seminar at 1 PM, with a $15 minimum donation per participant, benefiting TESSA, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting those affected by violence.

Additionally, I will be completing a personal challenge of 3,000 burpees in 6 hours to raise funds, aiming for a goal of $5,000. Donation levels range from $100 to $1,000, with a "Burpee Pledge Champion" option available for sponsorship per burpee completed.

Your support is essential in helping us provide services to survivors and break the cycle of abuse. Thank you for your generosity and commitment to this cause.

Very respectfully,Sensei Benjamin SkeeSensei Benjamin Skee
