After 993 days detained due to a petty misdemeanor charge that has never resulted in a single day of prison for any other lawyer in U.S. history, Steven's sentence has ended. However, our work is far from over. Chevron likely will try to continue its corporate bullying campaign against Steven as our message spreads even wider and as we continue our critical human rights and environmental justice work around the globe.

We need to continue to build up a “war chest” of funding so that lawyers can protect him against future attacks by Chevron. We also need the resources to continue fighting for Indigenous peoples of Ecuador and other vulnerable communities harmed by the fossil fuel industry.
