Steven still faces enormous challenges after his release in 2022 following 993 days of detention on a petty misdemeanor contempt charge. Chevron is still threatening to have him locked up again if he does not turn over his confidential case file. Chevron’s demonization campaign against Steven continues across the Internet. The people of Ecuador, who have not seen a cent from Chevron even after their historic court victory, are still suffering and dying from the company’s pollution. Our work is far from over as our message spreads even wider and as we continue our critical human rights and environmental justice work around the globe.
