Steven Donziger is a U.S. human rights attorney who helped communities in Ecuador’s Amazon win a historic multibillion-dollar pollution judgment against Chevron for the dumping of billions of gallons of cancer-causing oil waste onto Indigenous ancestral lands. 

Since the judgment, Chevron has carried out a massive demonization campaign targeting Steven to send a message of intimidation to all environmental advocates resulting in him serving 993 days of detention at home and in prison; and he is still not free.

Beyond fighting to restore his full rights, Steven is using his experience to shed light on other environmental atrocities at the hands of corporations, to lift up Earth Defenders globally, and finally bring justice to the Indigenous peoples who continue to suffer due to Chevron’s Amazon Chernobyl.
