Lisa Simpson: her incredible journey from fear and confinement to safety and love.
Lisa was once a young pig trapped in a poorly fenced yard, intended for slaughter by her owner. But Lisa had other plans. Driven by her instinct to survive, she managed to escape and began an unexpected journey through a residential neighborhood.
Hungry and desperate, Lisa tried to break into a neighbor’s chicken coop, causing a stir. Concerned, the homeowner called local authorities—who shockingly suggested she be shot. It was clear that Lisa’s owners had abandoned her, leaving her to roam the streets alone.
But then we got the call. We knew Lisa needed help, and we weren’t about to let her down. We watched her from the safety of a kitchen window as she wandered, eventually curling up to rest in an alley. That’s when we made our move.
Quietly, we set up a trap using kennel panels, a dog crate, and a trail of blueberry-flavored cereal. Lisa, still asleep, didn’t notice at first. But when she woke, her curiosity led her straight to the crate, and after a tense few moments, she ventured in.
Though initially scared, Lisa quickly realized we weren’t a threat. Calmed by treats and gentle words, she began to trust us, and soon, she was on her way to the sanctuary where she would be safe.
At the sanctuary, Lisa was spayed, fully vetted, and introduced to the big pig herd. There, she met Howie, another recent arrival, and the two quickly became inseparable friends.
Lisa’s true personality blossomed as she settled into her new life—playful, loving, and full of joy. Her tail, though cut off as a piglet, still wags with delight as she roots through the mud, living her best life.
Lisa Simpson’s story is one of resilience, hope, and second chances. From fear and confinement to a life of freedom, friendship, and happiness, she’s a true testament to the power of compassion. Every pig deserves a chance to live the life they choose, and thanks to all who helped Lisa find hers! 🐖💚
